STUDENTS HAIL FSNT HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM
Students from Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) and Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) have given thumps up to the ‘Strengthening Women’s Advocacy for Accountable Health Governance in
Zimbabwe (SWAAHGZ) program conducted by the Network on the 26th of July 2024 in Mashonaland Central.
Female Students Network Trust (FSNT) in partnership with Women Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ) and Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) are implementing the ZIMACE supported SWAAHGZ program
aimed at conscientizing students and community members on trending health issues and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) in the selected Provinces.
As part of this project, FNST conducted awareness campaign at BUSE with more than 70 students from the aforementioned two universities acquainting them with key information on the legal statutes that guarantee
their SRHR rights, various Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) that students are vulnerable to, available prevention methods and advocacy strategies and technics that students can employ on public health.
The program also gave a special focus on spreading awareness on Hepatitis since it was a few days before the World Hepatitis Day. Students were equipped with various ways in which the disease is spread, its
symptoms and some global statistics Hepatitis induced casualties.
The Network and its partners will endeavor to conduct other awareness programs in Mashonaland West before the year ends.
