Female student Network Trust (FSNT) has a mandate to ensure that girls in Tertiary Education Institutions (TEIs) are empowered and equipped with skills relevant to their learning and existence in their institutional settings. The #smartgirls campaign refers to girls who are not just physically smart but have intellectual intelligence. The objectives of the smartgirls campaign stems from the need for female students to understand the nature and forms of sexual harassment in TEIs.

Having this acquaintance will enable female students to safeguard their rights. Sir Francis Bacon said "Knowledge is Power'. The quotation is a true sense of why the organisation focuses on empowering the girl child. The network has gone a step further to declare that “knowledge is power” but action gets things done. The campaign is an awareness raising drive to ensure that information is disseminated to as many institutions as possible in order to curb sexual harassment. As FSNT we are also encouraging female students to take the lead and report cases of harassment and abuse in TEIs without fear. FSNT is collaborating with relevant ministries and College authorities to make sure those female students are highly informed and protected in spaces of learning.
